Exciting news! Our second grade music classes learned about Ethan Bortnick a couple of months ago. He is an amazingly talented young musician, with a natural gift for all things music. The kids were so inspired by him, that they created a video questionnaire to send to him and we invited him to visit our school. This was the response we received.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Mrs. Bell's second grade music class, Ethan has received your video and would like to thank you for reaching out to him. He looks forward to answering your questions. Currently he is busy with his tour but will make time in the near future to respond. In the meantime we would like you to know about Ethan's new school concert series. Ethan's goal for this year is to perform a series of free concerts in schools all throughout the United States. So we're asking students, teachers and parents to submit a short video of themselves, their children or students telling us why they would like to see Ethan live. We're then going to edit the videos together as part of our crowdfunding campaign. Could you please record and send us videos of yourselves? We look forward to viewing them! For more information about the concert series please visit http://ethanskeysforkids.com/ Regards, Ryan -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I would love to see some video responses from you or your kids explaining why they want to see Ethan Bortnick live. Please send any videos to me at [email protected] and I will forward them on to Ethan's team. This is an opportunity not to be passed up. Let's do this! Week 3 was testing week! The kids did great, but I sure missed teaching them music. 5th grade is moving along quite nicely with their class song creations for promotion. I wish I could show you here, but then it wouldn't be a surprise! 4th grade is working on a fun surprise, too, but this one is for GO LIVE! There will be dancing and piano playing. Can't wait! 3rd grade is also working on a song for Go Live! Recorders, tambourines, drums, and more. We're now learning about rests. Rhythm and rests and notes on the staff will help us to take on playing an instrument next week. Some classes will play on the keyboard and some will play on resonator bells. I hope everyone will have fun.
Don't forget GO LIVE! is only three weeks away! May 7th from 4-7pm. Make sure to send in your tamale and t-shirt orders. It'll be here faster than you think! This week we learned all about the treble clef staff in grades K-4. We watched some fun videos, learned some fun songs and even played some games using the notes from the treble staff. This one is my favorite. In fifth grade, we continued working on our class songs for promotion. I cannot even begin to express how talented these kids are! The chorus in each class is nearing completion. Now, just two more verses, a bridge, learning the instrumentation, and done. I'm so proud of them.
Please keep in mind that next week is AzMerit and AIMS testing, so the kids will have a week long break from specials. Most classes will start working on keyboards the week of the 11th. |
